Becoming a certified instructor not only enhances your credibility in the industry but also opens doors to future events, where you can access continuing education classes and seminars.
To become a Recognized PBIA Instructor or Level 1 ACS Instructor, successful completion of an Instructor Course, either in-person or online, is required. This course includes passing an instructor’s test administered by an Advanced or Master Instructor, along with the submission of a video demonstrating your ability to train a student in one of the six core fundamentals:
- Head Alignment
- Foot Placement
- Mechanics
- Alignment (Aim / Angle)
- Speed
- Spin (English)
This 12-hour Instructor Course (which can be completed over 2-4 days) will include, but is not limited to:
- Pool table rental time
- A video stroke analysis with suggestions on how to perform video assessments with your own students, and what to look for
- Mechanics overview
- Cue ball control (90 degree rule, 30 degree rule, trisect rule)
- Position play principles
- Aiming with sidespin
- Defense
- Basic Kicking & Banking
- Racking & Breaking
- Additional topics (time permitting) may include: rail cut shots, elevated shots, jump & masse shots, and the effects of throw)
- Up to 1-hour designated to administering Pool Terminology & Physics test, and answering any final questions.
- Determination of qualifications and assistance with completion of necessary forms and applications.
- Follow-up correspondence
Continuing education for Instructor Upgrades is also available for those seeking PBIA (Certified, Advanced, & Master levels) and ACS (Levels 2, 3, and 4) advancements.
